Seven winter nights lived inside the aurora zone, from the harbour lights of Tromsø to a fisherman's cabin on the Lofoten shore. It is a journey into the northern way of life as much as the northern sky — a night beneath a glass dome with the lights overhead, a Sámi welcome and reindeer by the fire, your own husky team through the silence, and the Arctic valleys by snowmobile. A glass dome facing the Lyngen Alps, a private aurora-photography night, a snowmobile day and a heated whale charter among orcas and humpbacks.

Lofoten
Three nights · Private rorbu, Nusfjord
A fisherman's cabin on the shore — fjord kayaking, a Trollfjord sea-eagle safari, a king-crab dinner and the postcard villages of Reine and Hamnøy.

Day 1
Land above the Arctic Circle, private driver waiting. Your Arctic welcome kit — Norwegian wool layers, yours to keep — is fitted at your harbour-view suite. The evening is free — the city above the Arctic Circle at your own pace, driver on call.
Day 2
A private husky expedition — your own team through the Arctic silence — then a private Sámi lavvu reindeer dinner over an open fire, no other guests.
Day 3
A scenic private drive along the fjords to the glass dome on the Lyngenfjord, first of two nights. A private aurora-photography session — your portraits under the lights, delivered within 48 hours — and dinner at the dome.
Day 4
A private heated whale charter among orcas and humpbacks, your boat alone (November–January); a private snowmobile day through the Arctic valleys replaces it February–March. A second night beneath the dome.
Day 5
South by air to the Lofoten islands and your private rorbu for three nights. A private chef cooks Arctic seafood inside your cabin. The afternoon is free — the preserved village of Nusfjord at your own pace, driver on call.
Day 6
A private enclosed-boat sea-eagle safari through the Trollfjord, then a king-crab dinner with a window table held for you.
Day 7
The postcard villages at your own rhythm — Reine, Hamnøy, the galleries of Henningsvær, winter shoreline walks. In the evening, a private farm-table dinner in a Norwegian family home.
Day 8
A last slow morning by the water, then a private transfer to the airport and the flight home via Oslo.

When to travel
A season, not a date.
Arctic Lights runs from November to March — the dark half of the year, when the aurora is out. It is private to your party and arranged on your own dates within that window. Here is how the season reads, and the weeks we love most.
Whales & the first dark
Orcas and humpbacks follow the herring into the fjords off Skjervøy, and the aurora nights grow long — the private whale charter runs only now.
The polar dark
The darkest skies of the year and the longest aurora watching; around Tromsø the sun barely clears the horizon. The classic deep-winter journey.
Snow country
Reliable snow and a little more light as the day returns — the whale charter gives way to a private snowmobile day through the Arctic valleys.
Typical winter conditions across the route — coastal Tromsø and Lofoten are milder thanks to the Gulf Stream, while the Lyngen Alps inland and every clear aurora night run colder still. Warm Arctic layers are provided. Private to your party and arranged on your chosen dates within the November–March window, subject to availability. The northern lights are a natural phenomenon and never guaranteed — which is why every journey carries an unlimited private aurora chase and our Aurora Promise.

Sixty days out
The balance, with final guest details, due sixty days before departure. A pre-trip call a week before you travel.
Full cancellation terms and the insurance policy summary are shared with your quotation. Journeys are private to your party and can be shortened, extended or shifted between the whale (Nov–Jan) and snowmobile (Feb–Mar) seasons.
Winter in the Arctic is never self-drive. A private chauffeur is with you across the mainland — Tromsø and the fjord drive to Lyngen — and again throughout Lofoten, with a short domestic flight linking the two. The roads, the timing and the weather are ours to manage, so the cold stays a pleasure.

Best time to travel
Arctic Lights runs November to March, the heart of the aurora season, when the days are short and the nights long and dark. Expect deep, dry cold — often −5°C to −15°C inland — and we dress you for it. The whale charter runs November to January; a private snowmobile day replaces it February to March.
Visa & entry
Norway is part of the Schengen Area, and many nationalities — Korea, Japan, Singapore and Taiwan among them — enter visa-free for up to 90 days in any 180. Your passport should be valid at least three months beyond departure and issued within the last ten years. Europe's Entry/Exit System (EES) is now in place at the border, and a new online authorisation, ETIAS, is expected from late 2026 for visa-free visitors — a quick form we'll guide you through when it arrives. If your nationality needs a Schengen visa, we'll help you apply.

Travel insurance
Comprehensive travel insurance — medical and evacuation — is included in your journey, essential this far north. We recommend you also hold cancellation cover from the date you confirm, and we're glad to advise.
Deposits & cancellation
A 20% deposit secures your journey and is non-refundable; the balance follows the schedule set out with your quotation. Should you cancel, the charge follows the time before departure — more than 60 days, the deposit only; 30 to 60 days, half the journey; under 30 days, or a no-show, the full price. Because this is a private journey, we can often move your dates instead, if you tell us early. We count from the day we receive written notice. Medical and evacuation cover is already part of your journey; we ask you to add cancellation cover from the day you reserve, for exactly this reason. If we ever have to cancel, you're offered new dates or a full refund. The full Booking terms set all of this out, and the particulars of your own journey come with your quotation.
What to pack
We fit an Arctic welcome kit of Norwegian wool layers on arrival, yours to keep. Bring thermal base layers, insulated waterproof boots and warm gloves; we send a full list once your dates are set.
Health & safety
No vaccinations are required, and Norway has excellent medical care. Winter roads are never self-drive here — your private chauffeur manages the driving, the timing and the weather, so the cold stays a pleasure.
Payments & currency
Norway uses the krone (NOK) and is effectively cashless — card and contactless are accepted almost everywhere, so little cash is needed. Journeys are quoted in USD, and also quotable in EUR, NOK or THB.
Getting there
The journey begins in Tromsø and ends in the Lofoten islands, and the domestic flight to Lofoten is included; every other internal leg is arranged by us. International flights are excluded, but we're glad to arrange them — most connect through Oslo.
Language
English is spoken everywhere in Norway, and your bilingual host is with you throughout. We also host in Thai and Chinese on request.
